Art and visual perception

As tools of computation become more powerful and more intuitive, full exploration of their dynamic range as instruments of light, sound and touch will benefit from the expertise of multiple domains. The sculpture of these instruments (like that of musical instruments) may be informed by subjects such as mathematics, computer science, interface design, psychology, physiology, semiotics.

The screen and keyboard paradigm infintessimally avail themselves of the physical and perceptual capabilities with which our species has been endowed by evolvution. Liberating the work process physically taps into sources of creativity exposing our fundamental interconnectedness with each other and to our surroundings.

Welcome,
This blog is intended as a resource for information visualization and interactive technology. My interests include applying information visualization techniques to large datasets measuring complex phenomena, enabling interactive visual and sonic exploration of multivariate data, incorporating diverse data sources into live performance multimodal installation-based works and developing interfaces for interacting with data. From the scientific perspective I am interested in developing methods for intuitive visual understanding of complex systems. Perspective provided by such views may facilitate understanding of the mystery. From the artistic perspective, I am interested in patterns generated by big data sources available and their potential as raw material for creation. Playing with this material enables an appreciation for the boundlessness of this mystery.
